Getting Started
  • What is SuperLeap?
  • SuperLeap is a mobile/online health and weight management program developed by Holmusk and delivered in partnership with the Health Promotion Board of Singapore. SuperLeap combines the use of mobile technology and devices with expert health coaching to help kids and teens to maintain better eating and exercise habits.
  • How much does it cost?
  • The program is FREE to selected participants offered in conjunction with the Health Promotion Board in Singapore.
  • How do I apply?
  • This is an exclusive program that the Health Promotion Board is offering to selected kids and teens for free. Check your eligibility by answering a few questions here. The program will formally launch in July and a SuperLeap representative will call to confirm your participation and explain the next steps.
  • Is SuperLeap suitable for me or my child?
  • You may qualify for this free SuperLeap programme offered by HPB if you are:
    • Pre-school students with a BMI-for-age percentile greater than 90 percentile (overweight and severely overweight). Refer to this BMI-for-age Percentile chart to see if your child qualifies.
      - Girls (https://goo.gl/A8gGbw)
      - Boys (https://goo.gl/nJhFwG)
    • Institutes of Higher Learning (IHL) students ie. polytechnic and Institute of Technical Education (ITE) students with a BMI-for-age percentile greater than 90
  • What devices does SuperLeap work on
  • SuperLeap currently works on Apple mobile devices (iPhone) running iOS 9.0 and above and Android devices running Android 4.1 (JellyBean) and above.
  • How is the SuperLeap programme structured?
  • The program has three main components:
    (1) A SuperLeap starter kit that includes a connected weighing scale, activity tracker;
    (2) A mobile app that can be used to track food by taking photos of meals and snacks;
    (3) An expert health coach that will review data from the app and provides feedback, motivation and support. SuperLeap participants interact with their coach via daily in-app messages and weekly phone or video calls.

The program runs for a total of 6 months. The Core Programme (Month 1-3) will empower your child to achieve a healthier weight and feel more energetic. We will bring professional support right to you, at your convenience. Your child will have a dedicated Health Coach to provide daily in app coaching and weekly calls. Our coaches will help your child set goals, provide feedback and continuous support to encourage them to track food intake and exercise. This phase is designed to improve self-awareness and gradually improve eating and exercise habits.

The Post-Core Programme (Month 4-6) will support your child to maintain the changes that they've already achieved in the core phase. It's designed to provide support and encouragement. Our Health Coaches will continue to engage and provide health coaching to your child via the the app. In addition, your child will still receive useful advice such as healthy recipes and physical activity tips.
  • Does my child need to own a smartphone to participate in the program?
  • No. Your child can share your device in order to access the SuperLeap app.
  • What is the time commitment?
  • One of the benefits of SuperLeap is that you can engage with the program via the app at your convenience. Our participants spend a few minutes each day tracking their food and exercise, and interacting with their coaches who provide feedback via in-app messages. Weekly scheduled calls with the health coach typically last 15 minutes.
  • Are parents expected to use SuperLeap?
  • Parental support is important for success. Our coaches are trained to guide both child and parents during the program. If your child is young, your involvement in providing access to the SuperLeap app and encouraging your child to log meals and activity will be necessary. If you are not the main caregiver for your child, it is important to engage the caregiver to actively participate in the programme.
  • What happens if I lose or damage one of my devices?
  • In general, we can't replace devices that are lost, or damaged through usage - so take good care of your SuperLeap kit! If you wish to get it replaced, we can direct you to alternatives, or the right place to purchase a replacement if you need to.
We do review each situation on a case-by-case basis, so if there is a fault on arrival or genuine case for exchange, please get in touch at support@getsuperleap.com.
SuperLeap Health Coaches
  • Who are my SuperLeap Coaches?
  • SuperLeap health coaches have diverse backgrounds in health-related fields, such as dietetics, as well as experience working in clinical practice. Our coaches are also recruited from within Singapore, ensuring they have deep knowledge and understanding of local food and other aspects of Singapore's diverse culture and communities. You can learn more about our coaches here.
  • Do Coaches really make a difference?
  • SuperLeap Coaches are critical for success. They provide an independent and expert voice giving support, motivation and accountability. As a parent this can reduce the stress of your role influencing your child's eating habits and other health practices. Studies show that coach-led programs are effective in the treatment of obesity in children and adults.
Parental Concerns
  • Will a program focused on weight negatively affect my child's self-esteem?
  • SuperLeap takes a holistic approach that is focused on behaviour. We want your kids to make healthier choices and feel better in addition to controlling their weight.
  • Are diets and calorie counting safe for kids and teens?
  • SuperLeap is not about fad diets or calorie counting. Our coaches guide you and your family to make better, higher-quality choices around food. One way we do this is via a simple 1 to 5 star food rating system. The goals are to reduce 1-star foods, which are often high in saturated fat and/or low in nutrients, and increase 4- or 5-star foods, which are high in nutrient quality and in good portions. This rating system provides useful feedback and is easy to understand, even for young kids. We focus on helping each participant understand and achieve the right balance.
  • Does food tracking put my child at risk of eating disorders?
  • The SuperLeap program is devised and overseen by a team of medical experts, including a medical doctor, qualified dietitians, a fitness scientist and a psychologist. Experts agree that kids and teens who participate in behaviour modification programs which support gradual changes over time, like SuperLeap, have a low risk of developing eating disorders.
  • How do I convince my child/teen to try SuperLeap?
  • We know that each family's situation is unique. Speak to one of our coaches and we'll find the best way to engage your child. Generally, we present SuperLeap as a fun program with cool gadgets to help the family become healthier. We urge you to contact us if you have additional questions.
  • What if my child is not interested in working with a coach?
  • If, for whatever reason, your child is not interested in working with our coaches then we may be able to coach you to help your child. If your child is a pre-schooler and you are interested in this option, please contact us.
  • What if my child attends childcare?
  • We appreciate your help to engage with school teachers to provide us with an overview of your child's food intake in school. Time spent outside of childcare still play an important role in your child's overall nutrition and fitness.
  • How do we protect your, or your child's privacy?
  • We have strict procedures to ensure compliance with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and protect our users. All our health coaches have been vetted and carefully selected. We work closely with the Health Promotion Board of Singapore to ensure the SuperLeap program is safe, secure and effective for you and your family.
